Shawn Brekke
Shawn
is from Portland, Oregon and comes from a family that has always
enjoyed music. His grandfather taught himself to play the Hammond
organ by ear, his father sang in his school choir, and his mother
played clarinet in the school band. Shawn played trumpet throughout
his school years, learning to play by ear and learning to love
performing because of the influences of his music teachers and band
directors. He continued studying music at the University of Oregon
and eventually became a band director himself. Shawn is currently a
middle school band director in Fargo and has performed with a wide
variety of groups around the region, including the Jazz Arts Big
Band and The Apostles Blues Band. In his spare time he enjoys
hunting, football and working on his log cabin on the Fish Hook
River.
